Can Bed Bugs Live in Pillows
Bed bugs can conceal themselves in box springs, mattresses, baseboards, wallpaper, and even the alarm clock next to your bed. They're relentless in their nightly pursuits, crawling over your skin for a blood meal. The only thing worse than one of them crawling on your face is one of them crawling on your face.
IS IT POSSIBLE FOR BED BUGS TO LIVE IN PILLOWS?
The truth is that bed bugs can live almost anywhere there is a host, including pillows. They spend the majority of their lives in hiding, only coming out at night to find a blood meal. Bed bugs, on the other hand, are not big travelers and will only venture out about 30 feet from their hiding spot in search of a meal. This is why bed bugs prefer to live in such close proximity to a host.
HOW CAN BED BUGS IN PILLOWS BE REMOVED?
Heat is not a friend to bed bugs. If the thought of bed bugs hiding in your pillows keeps you awake at night, put them in the dryer on medium to high heat for about 20 to 30 minutes, but only if the manufacturer's instructions allow it. This is effective against bed bugs at all stages of development. If you're feeling particularly itchy, you can also put your bed sheets in the dryer. Mattress protectors and pillow covers for bed bugs are also available. This will not keep bed bugs out of your home, but it will help keep bed bugs out of the pillows you sleep on.
Bed bugs are excellent hiders due to their size and shape. Consider contacting a pest management professional at A1 Pestmasters if you suspect you have bed bugs in your room.
